Empire Automation Systems is seeking a highly motivated Robotics Application Engineer to support advanced industrial automation and robotic solutions for customers across the Northeast. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges, working directly with customers, and supporting cutting-edge technologies including robotics, machine vision, motion control, and integrated automation systems.
As a Robotics Application Engineer, you will work closely with customers, sales engineers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to develop technical solutions, provide product expertise, support system design, and assist with project execution. This position offers a dynamic blend of hands-on engineering, technical problem solving, customer interaction, feasibility studies, and business development support.
This is an on-site position and candidates should have reliable transportation and ability to commute to our office in Rochester, NY.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related technical field
- 2+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, controls, mechanical systems, or manufacturing technology preferred
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Industrial robotics
- PLC and HMI systems
- Motion control and servo systems
- Machine vision systems
- Industrial networking and communications
- Sensors and safety products
- End-of-arm tooling and electromechanical systems
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed
Job Responsibilities
- Support customers with technical product selection, application development, and automation system design
- Develop and present solutions involving industrial robots, motion control, machine vision, sensors, safety systems, and related automation technologies
- Assist outside sales teams with customer visits, technical presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept evaluations
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot robotic and automation systems in laboratory and customer environments
- Generate quotations, bill of materials, technical documentation, and application proposals
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers regarding application support, product capabilities, and project requirements
- Support integration activities including startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Conduct customer training on automation products and technologies
- Maintain awareness of emerging automation technologies and industry trends
- Collaborate with internal teams to support strategic growth initiatives and customer development
